Training Teams and Leaders The most effective training for short-term missions is gained  by active learning and not just by watching a video or reading a book. The training process begins roughly four months prior to departure (pre-field) and should continue on field and back home after your return (post-field). We highly recommend using a training curriculum such as The Next Mile for your team.

Training Team Leaders at Sagebrush Community Church in Albuquerque, NM

The Field:  Sagebrush Community Church is a rapidly growing church in Albuquerque, NM. They have a heart to reach the nations and have invested considerable resources in doing so. This includes time, money, staff, and a dedication to staying true to the command of the Great Commission. Sagebrush has identified several areas around the world to “adopt” and concentrate their resources.Tucson-TLT---5

The Ministry:  As Sagebrush is beginning to launch their short-term mission team phase of developing a mission program, they realize the need to train and equip many quality leaders. On March 5-6, DELTA Ministries will be hosting a training 15-20 of their members who wish to lead teams in the future. The goal is to develop and equip new and even current leaders of short-term mission teams. It is our prayer and desire that these leaders not just be facilitators but shepherds who take responsibility not just for the ministry of their team but for their spiritual development and maturity as well.

The Team:  Tory Ruark, Director of Short-term Missions, will be leading the training. Matt Bradshaw, the missions pastor at Sagebrush Community Church, will be hosting the training and participating as well.

Prayer Requests:  

  • Pray for a well attended event
  • That the leaders will catch the vision
  • That the training will equip the leaders for future ministry
  • That this training would result in teams that are well prepared for cross-cultural service
